This is the largest holiday of the year, is usually celebrated around late January to early February. On Vietnamese New Year's days, the Vietnamese usually go visit their extended families, have a meal together and wish one another best things for a whole new year. Imagine Thanksgiving in the United States, the values offered by Tet is tantamount because this is the perfect time to reunite with people whom you love and care so much about. That's the spirit. Out of the family scenes, in more northern provinces such as Hanoi, you will experience a chilly weather with peach blossom filling the whole city; you will see friends and family hangout on the street in sweaters, hands in hands. Only a day after the Day of liberating the South for national reunification, International Workers' Day is also a public holiday that the Vietnamese celebrate.
