5 Things to Do in Southern Thailand
By Stephen Holmes

Southern Thailand is one of the most beautiful places in the world. If you are traveling through Thailand you will probably fly into Bangkok and from there go to a beach or famous resort. Phuket is one Island in the south and is very popular with tourists, particularly Patong Beach but there are other great places in the South. Here are the top 5 things to do in Southern Thailand.

1. Take a boat trip around Krabi and the surrounding islands

Krabi province is one of the most spectacularly beautiful places to visit in Thailand. The main town is quite ordinary and really nothing too exciting happens here, it's like a normal Thai town, not really catering for the tourists. When you move to the beaches you find an array of resorts, restaurants, bars and beaches. One of the most popular beaches in Krabi is Ao Nang. This is a vibrant resort but also where boats usually pick up and drop off on route to the many islands. There are a number of islands to visit including Phi Phi, Chicken Island and James Bond Island.

2. Float through the "Hongs"

The Hongs are open air caves located around Krabi, Phuket and Phang Nga. There are many ways to experience these natural areas of beauty, you can take an excursion, kayak through it or take a romantic night-time boat ride through. There are so many tour companies that offer ways to view the hongs.

3. Snorkel

If you visit Southern Thailand you cannot leave without visiting at least one island or beach that offers amazing snorkeling conditions. Tour companies will take you out on half day or full day trips to find the best sites, you can snorkel straight off the boat or on the white sandy beaches that hug many of the outstanding islands in the south.

4. Cook and Eat

The South of Thailand has a huge variety of local food. The Malaysian and Indian influence becomes clear as you walk along the streets. Indian food is everywhere and there are numerous Halal restaurants with its proximity to Malaysia. Plenty of places will offer cooking classes either as one-off or regular courses. Some luxury hotels make it part of their offering now so you can learn to cook a true Thai dish while you are on vacation.

5. Party

Phuket is by far one of the most over developed and commercialized areas of Thailand so if your idea of a vacation is to party hard all night and sleep all day then Patong Beach in Phuket is the place to go. There are numerous beer bars, clubs and go-go bars along one big stretch of road, but this is expanding all the time. Prices in Patong area quite expensive, even more than Bangkok but it is the 1 place in the south that everyone goes to party.

For my guide to one of the best places to visit in Southern Thailand, Look at my guide to Ao Nang, Krabi.

5 Texas Festivals To Put On Your Calendar This Winter
By Christopher Rivera

Whether the season is Summer, Spring, Winter, or Fall, Texas always has one thing the same - festivals. From music shows, to antique shows, and special events commemorating historical milestones of domestic importance, Texas reigns as a state that has many different types of events to participate in year round. During the Winter season, coinciding with holidays, many locals and visitors alike join together to participate in the abundance of activities offered in the state. Here are 5 Texas festivals to put on your calendar this winter.

1. Round top Antique Show

Hosted in Round Top, this show occurs twice a year and welcomes visitors from all over Texas. Started in 1967 by a group of 22 dealers, the show has rapidly grown in popularity and scope. Now, weekends before the event are filled with activities known as "preview weekend" leading up to the event 10 days beforehand. Dancehalls, football stadiums, and sports fields are commandeered and turned into antique displays, stages, and event centers. Even if you are uninterested in the actual antiques, there are fun activities for the whole family.

2. Brenham's Uptown Swirl

What better way to welcome the new year than a wine drinking festival? Each year Brenham hosts the Brenham Uptown Swirl in which you can purchase a yearly commemorative wine glass, grab a map, and walk to each of the local businesses who provide you with various varieties of wine. Locals and visitors bring their significant others, relatives, friends, or family and participate in walking tours all through historic downtown Brenham. Along with wines, local businesses sometimes provide other forms or entertainment, food, or merchandise deals.

3. Quilt Show

Held twice a year, the Brenham friendship quilt guild provides the ultimate festival for quilt lovers and arts and crafts aficionados. Quilting classes are offered as well as quilting displays, demonstrations, competitions, and more. This is the ultimate place to learn more about the art of quilt making from other professionals

4. Brenham's Downtown Christmas Stroll/Parade

Each year the historic downtown district takes part in the Christmas Stroll and Parade. Often it begins with the lighting of the courthouse square trees, caroling, and finishes with nightly walking tours to appreciate all the lighting and decorations. Horse carriage rides and snow tubing activities make the festival suitable for the whole family.

5. Chappell Hill Blue Bonnets Festival

After Winter is over, the festivals don't stop. Just before Spring officially arrives, the Texas official flower, bluebonnet, blooms and smears it's purple blue tint all over the grassy plains in thick bright patches. The Chappell Hill blue bonnet festival commemorates the season change with fun activities for the whole family.

How to Make Your Egypt Vacation Amazing and Enjoyable
By Jenny Morag

So you are all set to plan your next vacations and have made a list of so and so famous places all around the world. If you are amused by architecture and beautiful buildings then Egypt would definitely have been on the top of the list. The beautiful state, along with remarkable architectural structures and culture, will leave you enthralled and smitten by the beauty of human feelings and beliefs. But then, packing bags and booking a tour package is not all needed to make a trip amazing and enjoyable. A lot more goes into the planning, living, capturing and witnessing the moments. Here is a helpful guide for the readers to let them know how they can make their vacations worth all the fun:

Book your entire group

While going on a tour alone or with one friend is quite easy and comfortable, visiting Egypt with a big friends group will help you create lots of memories at a historical and memorable place. You can share the historical experience along with fun for monuments, rivers, Nile cruise and other spots that is hard to enjoy while alone.

Enjoy the Food

Egypt is a heaven for those who love non-vegetarian dishes made in Mughlai style. Being an Islamic state majorly, most of the restaurants and hotels will serve you with sumptuous simmering mutton and chicken dishes that cannot be imitated anywhere. You should try the local dishes as they are spicy and healthy both.

Plan for a long trip

If you have time and money, always plan a long time trip to Egypt Vacation. Since it is quite a large state with lots of cities and exploring spots, it is must to visit each of them in no hurries. After all, will you be able to come out of the Pyramids without exploring each and every corner? Will you leave the Nile Cruise in between because you are short of time?

Do not forget your health and Hygiene

It often happens that when you visit a country like Egypt, that is located far off from your place, you often get too much excited to explore to an extent that you forget about your diet, health and fitness routine. Firstly, you must know that Egypt is a highly hot place and remains quite hot during summers. Secondly, you should understand that being an Islamic country, people there fast for a month during Ramazan and thus, during those times, the shops are likely to operate for limited hours.

Check the Mode of transport

While there are plenty of modes of transports like Uber and Metro within the major cities, you need to checkout which airport you will be heading to arrive. There are major airports in Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria and others. If you are going along with tour operators then there will be little hassles on your way. The operators know a lot about the countries and thus, can take you easily along with them.
